Financial Information

Graduate tuition & fees

Graduate tuition is based on the number of credits that you register for each term; it is the same rate for all students. MS degree programs at the College of Engineering are between 45-48 credits and are typically completed in five full-time quarters. Drexel University is on a quarter system, meaning there are four quarters per calendar year, unlike most universities with two semesters per year. These academic terms loosely align with the seasons of the year – fall, winter, spring, and summer. For most full-time MS students that means you can finish the program in five full-time quarters starting in the Fall, and attending classes in the Winter, Spring, Fall, and Winter.

These are the general guidelines for calculating tuition for COE master’s programs.

  • Tuition is based on the number of credits
  • It takes 45 credits to graduate in the MS program
  • 45 credits is equal to 15 courses @3 credits each
  • Full-time students typically enroll in three courses per quarter
  • Most FT students complete the program in 5 quarters
  • Students are charged a student fee for each quarter they are registered

Cost of Attendance

There will be additional costs of attendance in any college or university program. You should factor in costs of for a computer that meets program requirements, books, health insurance, rent, meals and entertainment. Students should consider their entire cost of attendance as their budget for each academic year.

Scholarships and Awards

Over 90% of all master’s students in the College receive the College of Engineering, Dean’s Award – a merit-based award for students in a full-time master’s degree program, it is calculated based on GPA and GRE scores. The award is made at the time of acceptance by the Office of Graduate Admissions. The award is given to domestic and international applicants seeking full-time study at the master’s level. At the time of acceptance students will also be reviewed for college specific scholarship and fellowship awards. Once accepted students can view their financial award using the Drexel Discover web portal and click on the financial aid tab. There they can view any financial awards and costs for the program.

Additional awards are available for current students in the program. These are made during the academic year and may be scholarship awards or cash made available to the student.

On-Campus work for International Students

F-1 and J-1 students are allowed to work on-campus while attending classes up to 20 hours a week. This work does not need to be related to your program of study, but you must maintain your student visa status while engaged in this type of work.
